The Best Wedding Venues in Los Angeles: A Photographer's Guide
October 21, 2026

Los Angeles has one of the most incredible ranges of wedding venues anywhere — you can say your vows with the Pacific behind you, inside a century-old cathedral, under the oaks of a Malibu ranch, or on a downtown rooftop. As a Los Angeles wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time in these spaces, and I'm often asked for venue recommendations. So here's my guide to some of the best wedding venues in LA, grouped by style, to help you find the one that feels like you.
Ocean-View & Coastal Venues
If you want that endless blue horizon behind you, LA's coastline delivers.
Bel-Air Bay Club — Pacific Palisades
This is one I've photographed in person, and it's hard to beat. Perched in the hills of Pacific Palisades, the Bel-Air Bay Club pairs classic 1927 Spanish-style architecture with an ocean-view ceremony lawn, a Grand Ballroom, and some of the best coastal light in the city. It's elegant without feeling fussy, and the views do a lot of the work.
Terranea Resort — Rancho Palos Verdes
A full oceanfront resort on the Palos Verdes peninsula, Terranea offers dramatic bluff-top ceremony sites, manicured lawns, and everything a destination-style weekend needs on one property. Great for larger celebrations and out-of-town guests.
Calamigos Ranch — Malibu
Technically in the Santa Monica Mountains, Calamigos is a Malibu favorite for a reason: multiple outdoor ceremony settings, mature oaks, waterfalls, and a relaxed, natural feel. Ideal for couples who want rustic and lush without leaving LA.
Historic & Elegant Venues
For timeless architecture and a sense of occasion, LA's historic spaces are stunning.
Vibiana — Downtown LA
A restored former cathedral in the heart of Downtown, Vibiana is pure drama — soaring ceilings, old-world detail, and a romantic courtyard. It photographs like nowhere else and suits couples who want something grand and a little cinematic.
The Ebell of Los Angeles — Mid-Wilshire
A 1920s landmark with a grand ballroom, a beautiful courtyard, and an on-site theater, the Ebell is classic and elegant. There's a reason it's a perennial favorite for refined, timeless weddings.
The MacArthur — Westlake
Another restored 1920s gem, The MacArthur's opulent ballrooms and ornate architecture make a statement. Great for couples who love glamour and vintage character.
Garden & Intimate Venues
For something softer, greener, or more personal.
Carondelet House — Downtown LA
An intimate Italian villa-style venue with ivy, warm interiors, and candlelit charm. Perfect for smaller, design-forward weddings that feel personal and romantic.
Millwick — Arts District
A garden oasis tucked into Downtown's Arts District, Millwick blends industrial architecture with lush greenery and string lights. It's a favorite for couples who want modern and natural in the same space.
The Houdini Estate — Laurel Canyon
A historic estate with terraced gardens, stonework, and a storied past, the Houdini Estate feels like a hidden world minutes from the city. Lovely for intimate, atmospheric celebrations.
How to Choose Your LA Wedding Venue
With this many options, it helps to narrow things down by a few questions:
- What feeling do you want? Ocean breeze and sunset, historic grandeur, or garden intimacy? Start there.
- How many guests? Some venues shine for 40, others for 250. Guest count rules a lot of this out quickly.
- Indoor, outdoor, or both? LA weather is forgiving, but a rain or heat plan matters depending on the season.
- What's the light like? As a photographer, this is what I look at first. The best venues have soft, flattering light in the late afternoon — ask when the sun hits the ceremony space.
- What's the budget? Venue cost is only part of the picture — for help planning the rest, see my guide to how much a wedding photographer costs in Los Angeles.
Whatever you choose, the venue sets the tone for the whole day, and for your photos. If you'd like help thinking it through, or you've already booked and need a photographer who knows how to make the most of the space, I'd love to talk.
